Community Guidelines
Treat people the way you’d want to be treated on a hard day.
Who this is for
Adults, 18 and over, who are sober from alcohol and/or drugs, or who are sober-curious and respect that sobriety is the norm here. Clean is clean: we don’t ask what you used, how long it took, or how many tries. We don’t rank recoveries.
What we ask
- Be who you say you are. Your own recent photos, your real age, your actual intentions. One account per person.
- Go gently with newcomers. If someone has under a year, assume they are doing something hard. Friendship first is always a fine answer. Pursuing newcomers because they are vulnerable, the “13th step”, gets you removed.
- No means no, and “not yet” means not yet. About meeting, about moving off the app, about anything. Pressure is a safety issue here, not a style.
- Keep it clean, literally. No photos with alcohol or drugs, no glamorizing use, no “just one won’t hurt”, no selling, no sourcing.
- Respect every path. 12-step, SMART, Dharma, faith, therapy, medication-assisted treatment, your own way. Nobody’s program is up for debate here.
- Respect every person. No harassment, hate, or slurs about gender, sexuality, race, faith, body, disability, or recovery. We ask how people identify; we don’t argue with their answer.
- No sexual content unasked for. No explicit photos, no explicit messages unless clearly invited.
- Nothing commercial. No selling, recruiting, promoting, fundraising, or asking for money. No links to sell anything.
- Keep other people’s anonymity. What you learn about someone’s recovery here stays here. Don’t screenshot profiles or messages to share.
- No kids. No one under 18 may use SoberHearted, and no photos of children on profiles, including your own.
What happens when guidelines are broken
Every report is read by a person within 24 hours. Depending on what we find, we may warn, pause, or permanently remove an account. Two independent reports hide a profile automatically until review. We don’t tell the reported person who reported them. If you believe we got it wrong, write to hello@soberhearted.com and a person will look again.
What we promise back
- We never sell or share your data. Ever.
- Your recovery details are visible only to whom you choose.
- Your photos are blurred to non-matches unless you decide otherwise.
- Nothing we send you reveals sobriety in a subject line.
- You can delete your account yourself, instantly, any time.
